This remarkable Mini City is the closest thing to a new example you are ever likely to encounter. The vendor informs us that it was built entirely from original Rover-supplied parts, most of which were sourced in 1988/89, including a brand-new engine, subframes, suspension, wiring loom and ancillaries. Even the wheels, tyres and trims are the very items it would have worn when new.

Originally, a Rover draughtsman had acquired a Mini Minus fibreglass shell along with a huge stockpile of brand-new Longbridge parts but never completed the project. A subsequent owner then located a completely unused 1989 steel shell – never fitted with panels and retaining its original floors and sills – which was professionally painted inside and out on a rollover jig. The result is an effectively ‘new’ Mini, finished to an extraordinary standard.
