March 2023 Classic & Performance Car Auction

Lot 1

1992 Mercedes-Benz 190D
*** NO RESERVE ***

Registration - K22 MKN

Chassis No. - WDB2011262F994675

M.O.T. - April 2023

Odometer - 84,530

‘K22 MKN’ (the registration is included in the sale) has been in its current ownership for around a year, during which time it has seen relatively little use but been fully maintained and serviced. Its lustrous black paintwork is teamed with grey check cloth interior trim. According to the HPI check the car has had just six keepers to date. However, it also suggests that the displayed mileage probably relates to a replacement speedometer, which would mean the total figure is now 178,298. The vendor currently views the 2.5-litre diesel engine, four-speed manual gearbox, four-door bodywork and paintwork as all being in ‘good’ order and the upholstery as ‘average’. He is now offering the Benz at No Reserve complete with Pioneer radio/CD, factory-fitted sunroof, tow pack, over-mats, tools and a current MOT valid to April 27.

The precursor to the C-Class, the W210 190 was Daimler-Benz’s compact executive offering from 1983 until 1993 and the most affordable model in its line up at the time. Some £600 million was reputedly spent researching and developing the car, with which the company pioneered a number of technical innovations such as the five-link suspension system subsequently carried over to the C and E-Class ranges. The car featured anti-dive and squat geometry as standard and was available with airbags, ABS seatbelt tensioners and other safety features generally ahead of their time. There was just one body style, a three-box four-door saloon, a range of petrol engines from 1.8 to 2.6 litres, and a selection of diesel units from 2.0 to 2.5 litres. A total of nearly 1.9 million 190s were produced during its 10-year reign, many of which are still providing sterling service today – some with hundreds of thousands of miles on the clock. Thought by Mercedes to have been over-engineered, it is considered by many to be a better car than the C-Class range that replaced it!

In summary:

• Recently serviced and MOT’d into April

• Comes complete with radio/CD, sunroof and tow pack

• Being sold at No Reserve
