The 997 was the sixth generation of the Porsche 911 and replaced the Porsche 996 in 2004, with production running until 2013. The main changes between the 996 and 996 were styling, including 18” wheels and, most notably, the ‘bug eye’ headlamps which replaced the ‘fried egg’ lights of the 996, though there was also a slight power increase. In 2006 Porsche unveiled its flagship 997 Turbo at the Geneva Motor Show. Increased use of aluminium enabled the new model to be 41kg lighter than the 996 Turbo.
