The Gold Cup Classic & Performance Car Auction

Lot 11

1999 BMW M5
*** NO RESERVE *** A very well presented example of BMW's iconic high-performance saloon

Registration - M5 BTE

Chassis No. - WBSDE92010BJ10282

M.O.T. - No

Odometer - 136,000

The iconic E39 BMW M5 needs no introduction, and this 1999 example in Le Mans Blue is a glorious example of a sublime high-performance saloon. The vendor has owned the car for a reassuring 10 years, and reports both bodywork and paintwork are in ‘excellent’ condition. This will be further enhanced by a visit to the bodyshop prior to sale. The interior, with its desirable black and grey Silverstone leather upholstery, is in ‘good’ condition too – and comes complete with original sat nav and even a Nokia carphone in the centre console.

‘M5BTE’ has an odometer reading 136,000 miles, and the vendor says it has a “big A4 folder of history dating all the way up to 2014, where it has since been stored off the road”. It will receive a full service prior to sale, and will come with 12 months’ MOT. An HPI check shows the car was previously written off as a Category C in 2010, but it was restored to fully road-worthy condition, and its appearance today reflects a high level of preparation. Adding to the appeal, this car is on sale with No Reserve.

The E39 BMW 5 Series was rated the best car in the world when it was launched in 1995, and the 5.0-litre V8 BMW M5 that followed in 1998 only further underlined its reputation. An exceptionally well-rounded driver’s car, it had searing performance, exceptional handling and the sort of understated but purposeful looks BMW aficionados dreamt of.

In summary:

  • Ultra-desirable BMW E39 M5 in Le Mans Blue
  • Plenty of service history
  • Will receive a full service and overhaul before sale
