A true go-anywhere machine with serious off-road credentials, this 1984 Land Rover 110 predates the Defender name and presents as a heavily upgraded and bespoke-built example that blends iconic Land Rover utility with robust Toyota mechanicals.
Built on a galvanised chassis, the 110 now benefits from a refurbished Toyota 4.2-litre turbocharged 6-cylinder engine, sourced from a Land Cruiser and mated to a Range Rover Classic 4-speed ZF automatic gearbox with a new torque converter. The result is a seriously capable vehicle that combines Land Rover’s legendary ruggedness with Toyota’s famously reliable powerplant.
The vehicle is fitted with a full stainless steel exhaust system with dual pipes, and rides on rare Land Rover 1 Ton rims. At the rear sits a drop-sided alloy pickup bed complete with a chassis-mounted electric winch operated via remote control, and a built-in air compressor with tank to run hand tools or inflate tyres in the field. Additional airbag spring assistors have been fitted to the rear axle for load handling.
The interior features new Exmoor Trim seats, a CB radio, and a radio/CD unit. It’s said to drive well and sounds fantastic. Also included in the sale is a large galvanised roof rack, designed to extend over the cab and reportedly large enough to sleep on – this is to be collected from Cheshire after the auction.
In summary:
- Pre-Defender era 110 with galvanised chassis and 1 Ton rims
- Powered by a 4.2L Toyota turbo diesel with Range Rover ZF auto box
- Equipped with winch, onboard compressor, and galvanised roof rack
