Registration - 774 XUU
Chassis No. - TD10617
M.O.T. - N/A
Odometer - 32,209
The vendor acquired ‘774 XUU’ from a deceased estate. It was apparently treated to a nut and bolt restoration approximately 10 years ago, the details of which are available with the car. Since the completion of the work the vehicle has been dry stored and the engine started and wheels turned on a regular basis. Nevertheless, a degree of light recommissioning is recommended. The MG features dark green bodywork that’s teamed with a beige hood, beige interior trim and painted silver disc wheels. It all appears to be in fine order and deserving of a suitably caring new owner who can benefit from all the work done.
The first of the post-war MGs was the TC. It bore great similarity to the pre-war TB and was fitted with basically the same 1250cc OHV XPAG engine that was common to the Morris 10 of the period. The major difference between the TB and TC was the interior – the latter benefiting from a wider cockpit. The TC was superseded by the TD in 1950. Though visually quite similar to the earlier T Series cars, the TD was built around a more modern chassis – the one derived for the Y-Type saloon. The benefits included coil spring suspension at the front, rack and pinion steering, smaller 15in road wheels and the option of LHD. Some 30,000 TDs had been produced by the time the model gave way to the TF in 1953, all but around 1600 or so of which were exported – some 23,500 went to the USA alone.
