This pure and period-looking 1996 BMW Z3 is a very original example of the reborn 1990s BMW roadster. Powered by an 1,895cc four-cylinder engine, ‘P6EBK’ was first registered in August 1999. The vendor says it comes from a deceased estate, and they describe the engine, transmission, bodywork and paintwork as all being in ‘average’ condition. Inside, it features part-electric leather seats, a leather ‘M’ steering wheel and M-branded gearknob. The interior is described as being in ‘average’ condition and, as with the outside, is largely original – although it does feature an upgraded, more modern stereo. The car starts, runs and drives, although it will need a bit of work electronically, reports the vendor, and will need an MOT. Due to it coming from a deceased estate, it doesn’t have any paperwork and the V5 is not present.

The BMW Z3 was revealed in 1995 as a simple and pure rear-wheel drive two-seat roadster. The first BMW ‘Z’ car to enter mainstream production, it was derived from the BMW Compact platform, which combined a shortened version of the period E36 architecture with the simpler E30 semi-training arm rear suspension. Both four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines were offered, with high-performance M models following in 1998. There was also a quirky BMW Z3 Coupe, famously developed by BMW engineers in their own time – rather like the original E30 BMW 3 Series Touring. An extra pub fact is that the Z3 was the first BMW solely to be manufactured outside Germany – in South Carolina, USA.

In summary:

  • Highly original 1996 BMW Z3
  • Part of a deceased estate
  • Offered with no reserve
