Kawasaki class the Vulcan as a “cruiser” but this 650cc midweight is more accurately a fun-to-ride, naked roadster with a low, long cruiser style profile. ‘PK15PPF’ offers a really excellent provenance and background for a motorcycle which is 10 years old. ‘PK15PPF’ shows just two owners to date. The first of these is reported to have been a Kawasaki dealership who used the Vulcan as a demonstrator. The second keeper acquired it in October 2015 and has retained it ever since. Just a miniscule 2,300 miles have been covered to date, and, despite that, a full service history is reported. ‘PK15PPF’ was specified with optional heated hand grips and removable and interchangeable luggage rack / pillion saddle. A valid MOT is in place until May 2025.
The Vulcan S is a great looking bike. ‘PK15PPF’ is finished in a dark purple which combines with black, powder coated engine parts, truncated silencer and matt black trim pieces to deliver a stealthy, subtle look. The cast alloy wheels are finished in a combination of black and polished metal. The saddle height is admirably low and the Vulcan features what are called adaptable ergonomics. This equates to the levers, and footpegs being adjustable to ensure that a wide range of rider shapes and sizes can find a comfortable riding position. A traditional, analogue tachometer is fitted with a digital speedometer also offering a range of selectable rider information. Given ‘PK15PPF’s’ very light use to date, it is no surprise that paintwork, bodywork and rider environment are all vendor rated as “good.”
‘PK15PPF’ features the 649cc parallel twin cylinder power unit that has been well proven in use under the ER-6 and the Z650 for many years. This liquid cooled, 8 valve unit was detuned slightly with a reprofiled power curve to make the Vulcan more flexible and less peaky. With 60bhp originally on tap, the Vulcan retained impressive mid-range urge and an easily achievable 100 mph top speed. Other mechanical features include front and rear discs, and a single rear shock with fully adjustable pre-load. All mechanical aspects of ‘PK15PPF’ are rated as “good.”
In summary:
· A great looking example of the very able Vulcan S with a miniscule mileage
· Fitted with ABS, heated hand grips and a full service history
· A genuine two owner machine and in current ownership for nearly 10 years
