This attractive, and indeed rare, Volkswagen pairs Blueberry-coloured bodywork with a grey leather interior. It rides on colour-keyed Porsche wheels and boasts a lifetime-guaranteed stainless steel exhaust system. £2,400 has also been invested on the brakes and suspension, while the central area of facia has been renewed as the original section had become broken. The vendor volunteers that there is evidence of corrosion in the passenger side door sill, but is quick to add that ‘the Corrado would make a really nice car with a bit of TLC’. According to the odometer, the VR6’s 13 keepers have between them amassed a total mileage of 174,000. The car is now offered complete with a history file containing numerous bills and past MOTs dating back to the late 1990s, plus a current one valid until October 2 this year.
Manufactured on behalf of Volkswagen by Karmann, the Corrado front-wheel drive coupe had a production span of the seven years from 1988 to 1995, during which just 97,521 examples were built. It was offered with a range of powerplants varying in capacity from 1.8 to 2.9 litres. The sale car is equipped with the most powerful option – the 2.9-ltre VR6 unit that had a healthy output of 187bhp.
