  Lot 14

1996 Ford Escort 1.4 LX
*** NO RESERVE ***

Registration - N251 TJU

Chassis No. - SFAAXXBBAATC32366

M.O.T. - Novemeber 2021

Odometer - 67,164

This very clean example of the final iteration of Ford’s long running Escort model is a two-owner five-door hatchback, that was originally employed by Ford as a demonstrator. We understand from the vendor that it is powered by the 1.4-litre overhead cam CVH engine as opposed to the older and more common 1.3-litre overhead valve Endura-E unit. He describes the car as ‘absolutely immaculate’ and says it ‘starts and drives perfectly’. It has apparently benefited from a recent service as well as a respray in its original livery of metallic green - the interior is trimmed in two-tone grey cloth. We are informed that the current MOT is valid for a while yet and that the indicated overall mileage from new is 67,164. Being sold at ‘no reserve’, ‘N251 TJU’ comes complete with some history and could well prove to be a bargain buy for some lucky bidder.

There were ultimately six generations of Ford’s long-standing Escort, which was in manufacture from 1968 to 2002, with the final version being launched in 1995. The model was frequently the best-selling car in Britain, where a total of more than 4.1 million of the various marks were sold over the car’s 34-year long production cycle.

  • Relatively rare CVH-engined example
  • Benefits from recent respray and service
  • A very clean example of a popular model
