  Lot 17

1997 Alfa Romeo Spider 2.0 T-Spark

Registration - R428 EAP

Chassis No. - ZAR91600006035930

M.O.T. - No M.O.T.

Odometer - 60,000

Looking suitably Italian in its Rosso Red livery, ‘R428 EAP’ is a righthand drive three-owner 2.0 T-Spark, whose odometer currently registers a modest 60,000 miles from new. The vendor informs us that the car is ‘rust free’. It has also apparently benefited from a degree of recent respraying, but he feels a full repaint would move it into the realms of a show car. He regards the black leather interior as ‘excellent apart from the driver’s side seat bolster that needs recovering’. The Alfa was recently treated to a service by an Alfa specialist during which the cam belt was replaced, and the car is now being offered complete with: wind deflector, stereo system, Spider over-mats, spare wheel, tool kit and some service history. Surely ideal transport for what we all hope will be a sunny summer?

The 916 Series Alfa Romeo Spider was a replacement for the much vaunted 105/115 Series model of the same name, whose 27-year lifespan included a Starring role in the 1967 hit film The Graduate. Launched in 1993, the newcomer was effectively a two-seat version of its 2+2 GTV stablemate. Engine options ran from 1.8 to 3.2-litre capacities. The 2.0-litre Twin spark unit of the sale car delivered 148bhp – sufficient to propel the model from 0-62mph in 8.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 134mph.

  • Modest mileage of 59,751
  • Just three owners from new
  • Recent service by Alfa specialist
