Lot 21

1996 Toyota MR2 T Bar 16V 10th Anniversary Edition
***NO RESERVE*** Number 78 of 250 Anniversary Edition vehicles

Registration - N525 EEY

Chassis No. - JT163SW2000105223

M.O.T. - April 2025

Odometer - 51,000

This collectable 1996 Toyota MR2 is a rare 10th Anniversary model, produced for the UK only to mark 10 years of MR2 sales. Finished in special anniversary Lucerne Silver, exclusive features include Anthracite alloy wheels, dark Toyota badges, stainless steel ‘MR2’ sill trims and an ultra-desirable part-wood Momo steering wheel. It is individually numbered, with this car carrying the number ‘78’, with more ‘78’ badges on the ashtray and engine cover. All Toyota MR2 10th Anniversary were T-Bar models, and both bodywork and interior are described by the vendor as being in ‘excellent’ condition.

‘N525EEY’ has had three previous keepers and the odometer reads 51,000 miles. It comes with a comprehensive service history, including the original owner’s manuals, and has an MOT until April 2025. The vendor reports it has been Waxoyled from new, and still has the original Toyota CD and cassette player, plus a working electric aerial. Custom floor mats are fitted too. It comes with three keys – plus the original T-Bar sun shades and storage bags, further adding to its originality. The engine, transmission and electrics are also described as being in ‘excellent’ condition.

The Toyota MR2 is a two-seater, mid-engined, rear-wheel drive sports car first introduced in 1984. MR2 famously stands for ‘midship runabout 2-seater’. The first generation, often known by its codename AW11, was a wedge-shaped, angular car with suspension and handling developed with the help of Lotus. Today, it is a bona fide classic. The second generation, known as SW20, launched in 1989 and was more rounded and luxurious, firmly taking the MR2 upmarket. The third generation saw the MR2 reinvented once again, this time moving back to its simple, lightweight roots. It was phased out in 2007, but there are constant rumours Toyota may once day revive the MR2.

In summary:

  • Collectable Toyota MR2 10th Anniversary
