This delightful pocket rocket is No.21 of just 100 85bhp Cooper Si models built in-house by John Cooper Garages in 1995 - a fact proudly authenticated by the plaque alongside the driver’s seat. The Mini is finished in white over Metallic Racing Green, that’s complemented by a pair of white bonnet stripes and silver-painted Minilite-style alloy wheels. The luxurious white-piped black leather interior features bucket seats, walnut facia, a set of three auxiliary instruments, leather rimmed Moto-Lita steering, racing-style pedals, and its original Rover radio/cassette. Though a seven-owner vehicle, ‘N13 CFO’ has nevertheless covered just 26,257 warranted miles to date, and was purchased by the vendor two years ago following its restoration by a Mini specialist. The vendor informs us that the paintwork is original aside of that on the front wings, which have been resprayed, and that the Mini is ‘very reliable and in excellent overall condition’. He says the car has always been well cared for and garaged while in his care, and currently grades the tuned 1275cc A Series engine, four-speed manual gearbox and upholstery as ‘excellent’ and the bodywork and paintwork as ‘good’, and is offering this rare model Cooper complete with stainless steel exhaust system and invoices relating to the restoration.
The connection between the classic Mini and the company founded by World Champion car constructor John Cooper dates back to the first factory-built Mini-Coopers of 1961, and resulted in countless victories on tracks and rally stages alike. Since the 1980s, John Cooper Garages have been marketing their own conversions, the most sought after of which have been limited in number and installed, not by dealers, but by the company itself, of which the 100-off Si models of 1995 are an example.
