An increasingly rare example of BMW’s E32 flagship saloon, this 1987 735i SE Automatic has been finished in the style of an Alpina B11 3.5 tribute and offers a distinctive blend of classic executive presence with subtle motorsport-inspired character. Acquired by the current owner in 2015, the car was enjoyed for several years by his father and has since been used sparingly, remaining serviced, MoT’d and dry-stored throughout the last five years.

Powered by BMW’s smooth straight-six and presented with a range of enhancements, this example benefits from notable recent expenditure including new Bosch fuel injectors in 2020, and in 2022 the front suspension was comprehensively refreshed using genuine BMW components, alongside new brakes front and rear, with an accompanying invoice totalling approximately £2,300. The vendor informs us the car has been maintained regardless of limited use, and is now being offered as the owner’s father is no longer able to enjoy it fully.

Registered in March 1987 and showing six former keepers on the V5C, the BMW has covered circa 111,000 miles. The original instrument cluster is said to have failed in 2022, a known E32 issue, and was replaced with a unit sourced from Lithuania, with the current mileage not visible on the replacement cluster. A towbar was fitted in 2015, and the car will also be accompanied by spares including its four original wheels. Importantly, this example was recorded as a Category C insurance loss in 2015, reportedly due to damage to the nearside front wing and spoiler, and it has since been returned to the road.

As a final-era expression of BMW’s 1980s luxury engineering, the E32 7 Series remains a true modern classic, combining understated styling with traditional rear-wheel-drive dynamics and refined long-distance comfort. Alpina-tuned examples such as the B11 remain highly desirable, and this tribute offers a visually similar presence at a fraction of the cost.

  • Recent expenditure includes suspension refurbishment and new brakes at a cost of circa £2,300

  • Supplied with book pack, service history, old MoTs, invoices, spare keys and original wheels

  • Offered without reserve
