The Bolesworth Castle September 2024 Classic, Performance & Supercar Auction

Lot 26

1946 MG TC
Same enthusiast ownership since 2004 and meticulously maintained throughout that time.

Registration - HYF 39

Chassis No. - TC2034

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - 13,500

This classic MG TC in British Racing Green has been pampered by a very fastidious and meticulous owner for the past 24 years. They acquired it from a dealer who imported it back into the UK from the United States, and it has been kept in a garage ever since. Fully UK-registered, ‘HYF39’ has an odometer reading 13,500 miles and it has only covered 100 miles since its last service. The vendor adds that it has been regularly serviced throughout their ownership, with paperwork to back this up.

‘HYF39’ is a 1946 car with a 1,250cc engine and four-speed gearbox. They say it had a new Gold Seal engine during the 1960s, and both engine and transmission are described as being in ‘good’ condition. The car comes with tools and spares – plus MG goggles and a hat! Resplendent with beautiful chromework, this pretty sports car also has a Brooklands four-spoke steering wheel and a half-moon windscreen. It has collected a reassuring array of owner’s club badges, proudly displayed at the base of the grille.

The MG T-Type two-seater sports car series ran from 1936 to 1955 in multiple series – TA, TB, TC, TD and TF. The TC Midget was the first post-war MG, launched in 1945. It was a key post-war export model, and was sent to the United States in right-hand drive. The TC Midget was a welcome success for MG, with more than 10,000 produced in four years, more than any previous MG model.

In summary:

  • 1946 MG TC in classic British Racing Green
  • Imported from the US 24 years ago
  • Regularly serviced with paperwork to back it up
