The Bolesworth Castle March 2024 Classic & Performance Car Auction

Lot 26

2000 BMW Z3M Convertible
From long-term ownership, finished in sought-after Estoril Blue

Registration - V233 GMO

Chassis No. - WBSCK920XOLB0760

M.O.T. - February 2025

Odometer - 95,730

Few European sports cars have more presence than BMW’s muscular Z3M finished in Estoril metallic blue, a livery that in this case is perfectly complemented by blue/black leather interior trim, a blue power hood and alloy wheels shod with quality Continental tyres. Although more than 15,000 Z3Ms were built, just 918 were in right-hand drive configuration, making ‘V233 GMO’ a rarity. This attractive convertible has remained within the current ownership since 2012, during which time it has been treated to aftermarket alloy wheels. The vendor now grades the BMW’s five-speed manual gearbox, bodywork and paintwork as ‘good’, and its straight-six engine and upholstery as ‘excellent’, and adds that ‘V233 GMO’ is ‘a stunning car that drives brilliantly’. It is now for sale complete with a Sony stereo system, its original backpack set of tools, full service history, large history file, and a current fresh MOT certificate valid until February next year.

Produced between 1997 and 2000, the Z3M Roadster was based on BMW’s popular Z3 two-seater. However, it was a car of far more exciting character courtesy of its punchy 316bhp engine previously restricted to the M3. Other M-upgrades included: a limited slip differential; larger brakes; wider rear track; reduced ride height; firmer suspension; more aerodynamic door mirrors; more aggressive front and rear bodywork; revised wing grilles; quad exhausts; and bespoke ‘Roadstar’ alloy wheels. The interior benefited from additional console-based instruments and unique sports seats. Needless to say, the performance was pretty impressive, with the Roadster capable of sprinting to 60mph in around 5.3 seconds and on a to an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph. Total production of the two-seater was 15,322 units, only 918 of which were equipped with righthand drive.

In summary:

  • A well-presented example resplendent in Estoril blue
  • Current ownership for 12 years and an indicated 95,000 miles
  • One of just 918 Z3M Roadsters equipped with righthand drive
