This appealing 996-era Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Convertible combines the 3.6-litre flat-six engine with desirable six-speed manual transmission – and is being offered at No Reserve. Being a coveted C4S, it has the wider 911 Turbo rear haunches and styling features, along with the eye-catching red reflector strip between the rear lights. Registered in September 2004, it has had just three owners, including the vendor, with the second owner keeping it for almost 15 years. Its clean appearance is enhanced by a recent professionally resprayed bumper, front wings and doors, while the grey mohair hood has been replaced – and it comes with a matching hardtop.
‘EU54EWM’ (the private plate pictured is not included in the sale) had a full engine rebuilt by Autostrasse Essex at 86,000 miles, including a new clutch, and this forms part of an extensive history file with plenty of receipts. The engine “sounds incredible” thanks to a Hayward and Scott stainless-steel exhaust with high-flow cats and K&N air filter. Recent work by Sports & Classic Porsche Centre Cheshire includes a new alternator and battery, new water pump, brake lines and rear trailing arms. It’s also recently had new Brembo brake discs and pads, and new Bilstein B6 dampers plus H&R springs. It has nearly-new Michelin PS4 tyres at the rear, and a full four-wheel geometry check. The Cinnamon and Aluminium interior is a Porsche Exclusive design, and has reconnollised leather plus an aftermarket stereo with Apple CarPlay. Overall, the vendor says it runs superbly and looks great.
The Porsche 911 996 was a ground-breaking model for the German sports car firm – the first-ever water-cooled Porsche 911 since the series was introduced back in the 1960s. A brilliantly-conceived car, it was a truly modern 911 that still had the rear-engined character of the original, but with much-needed modern refinements and a big lift in everyday usability. This 2003 model is a later generation with the larger 3.6-litre engine, as opposed to the launch 3.4-litre, and it benefits from many of the ongoing reliability updates Porsche introduced through the years. Right now, the 996-era Porsche 911 is increasingly being seen as a future classic collectable, with values tipped to start increasing from here, just as they did for the early 964-generation model. Now is a great time to get onto the ladder before prices start going up again!
