This striking Mk1 example has been comprehensively rebuilt and developed into an exceptionally well prepared fast road and track-inspired machine, combining the iconic lines of the early Cortina with serious modernised performance. Finished in bright red and presenting in outstanding condition throughout, the car has clearly benefited from a meticulous build with significant investment in both mechanical and cosmetic improvements.
At the heart of the car is a Cosworth turbocharged engine which has recently undergone a full rebuild, along with a rebuilt turbocharger, and is paired to a desirable T5 gearbox. The combination promises formidable performance in what remains a lightweight and engaging classic saloon. Supporting upgrades include a fully adjustable suspension setup and a HiSpec braking system, ensuring the car’s handling and stopping capability match its considerable power.
The drivetrain has also been carefully upgraded, featuring a Baby Atlas axle fitted with a limited slip differential and strengthened two-piece shafts. These enhancements provide improved durability and traction, particularly suited to enthusiastic fast road use or track driving.
Inside, the car has been thoughtfully prepared with a full roll cage and a purposeful driver-focused environment. The GT dashboard in place, complemented by a new dashboard top along with new door and quarter panel pads, helping maintain a tidy and well finished interior presentation. Cobra bucket seats further reinforce the car’s track-ready character, while the battery has been relocated to the boot as part of the build.
Cosmetically, the car presents to an exceptionally high standard. The vendor advises the paintwork is faultless and the car has received new window rubbers all round. It also benefits from brand new tyres and has covered no mileage since completion of the build, making this a freshly prepared and exceptionally clean example. Notably, the vendor further informs us that the car has had just two owners.
Combining classic Ford styling with serious mechanical specification and a very high standard of presentation, this Mk1 Cortina represents a rare opportunity to acquire a truly striking and highly developed example.
• Cosworth turbocharged engine with recent full engine and turbo rebuild • T5 gearbox, fully adjustable suspension, HiSpec brakes and Baby Atlas LSD axle • Two owner example with immaculate paintwork and extensive recent restoration work
