All Nissan 300ZX are now increasingly collectable and this rather special car is particularly so. It was built in 1990 and originally held by Nismo Tokyo as a promotional car. It was fitted with a set of original 18-inch Nismo LMGT3 wheels. It was imported into the UK in November 2004, and then regularly serviced by Middlehurst Road Race & Classic, owned by famed Nissan guru Andy Middlehurst. It was they who drew attention to the fact it was a special car.

‘XLZ3005’ has, reports the vendor, “a folder about an inch deep of receipts and part history”. The car also comes with another folder containing a workshop manual, owner’s manual and more. The black exterior is complemented by a black leather interior with distinctive tan leather lower dashboard trim, and ‘XLZ3005’ has an odometer reading around 78,400 miles. The UK-registered car has an MOT valid to October 2025. Here in the UK, it has had just two previous keepers.

The Nissan 300ZX was the latest in the Nissan Z-car series established by the iconic 240Z. Introduced in 1983, the first generation was an angular and upmarket performance coupe, with the second generation ‘Z32’, introduced in 1990, developing things yet further. The 3.0-litre V6 engine was upgraded with twin-turbochargers and dual intercoolers, producing a staggering 300bhp. It was a tuner’s dream and, later in the decade, also found fame in early versions of the PlayStation game Gran Turismo, where it was known by its Japanese domestic market name, Fairlady Z.

In summary:

· 1990 Nissan 300ZX with an interesting history

· Original Nismo Tokyo promotional car

· UK servicing by Middlehurst Road Race & Classic
