This lovely looking C Class Mercedes has had just six keepers from new, who’ve amassed a total of 66,875-mile between them. However, it is such a clean tidy example inside and out, it could easily pass for a one-owner car. Finished in ruby-coloured metallic and trimmed in cream fabric, it still retains the rear window sticker of its supplying dealer, B&K Thomas Ltd of Nottinghamshire. The vendor purchased the Benz from Mercedes specialist Mark Taylor Special Vehicles of West Yorkshire in April of last year, to use as a weekend car. He says it ‘starts, stops and runs as it should’, and currently grades the bodywork as ‘excellent’ and the four-cylinder engine, automatic transmission, paintwork and upholstery as ‘good’, and adds that the car is ‘very clean underneath’. He is now selling it complete with sunroof, cruise control, spare key, service book and history file, included within which is a current MOT valid all the way to February 1 next year.
The first of what have so far been five generations of C Class (W202) cars from Mercedes-Benz entered production in 1993 as a replacement for the much admired 190 model. The saloon version of the newcomer was effectively the company’s entry level offering until the advent of the smaller and radically different A Class in 1997. Over eight years of manufacture the original C Class was available with a wide selection of petrol and diesel powerplants ranging from 1.8 to 5.4 litres in capacity. The car was of front-engine rear wheel drive configuration and dressed in either a four-door saloon or five-door estate body. In C200 guise, as per the sale car, it was powered by a 2.0-litre DOHC four-cylinder petrol engine of 130bhp, which was sufficient output to achieve a 0-62mph time of 11 seconds and top speed of 126mph. There was the option of manual or automatic transmission.
