1989 Ford Sierra Sapphire 2000E
**NO RESERVE**

Registration - G212 ARF

M.O.T. - Expired

Odometer - 115,000

This very striking Sierra was registered to the first of its four keepers in September 1989 and has remained in the care of the vendor for the last 11 years. The car has at some stage benefitted from a complete respray in Ford Flint Grey, that’s complemented by the original grey leather interior trim and a fine set of split-rim BBS alloy wheels shod with Toyo tyres. ‘G212 ARF’ apparently began life with a manual gearbox, but that was replaced with a rebuilt automatic one in 2017. Other notable features include a Rouse Engineering front splitter, bonnet louvres, boot spoiler and sunroof complete with wind deflector, Ford radio/cassette and Kenwood CD autochanger. The vendor currently views the twin-cam engine, transmission and upholstery as ‘excellent’ and four-door bodywork and paintwork as ‘good’, and is offering the Sapphire complete with a file containing handbooks, Haynes manual, invoices, receipts and a selection of old tax discs and MOT certificates. We understand the mileage to date to be c.115,000.

Released in the September of 1982, the Ford Sierra was a replacement for the ubiquitous Cortina and its German sibling, the Taunus. The aerodynamic styling was arguably ahead of its time and caused initial controversy – one eminent UK journalist nicknaming it the ‘jelly mould’. Ford had the last laugh, however, with sales eventually reaching 1,299,993 units over the 11 years of production; making it Britain’s 10th most popular car up to that time. During its reign, the Sierra was offered with a range of no less than 13 different petrol engines, two diesel powerplants and in numerous levels of trim. Reprising a popular name from Ford’s past, the luxury Sierra 2000E model introduced in 1989 is relatively rare, as it was discontinued after only two years of production. It was only available in four-door saloon form and featured two-tone metallic paint, alloy wheels, light grey leather interior trim and a trip computer in addition to all the items associated with the up-market Ghia package. The model was employed as a showcase for the company’s new two-litre 118bhp DOHC engine, as fitted to the sale car.

In summary:

  • Just four keepers to date and in the current ownership since 2012
  • Converted from manual to automatic transmission in 2017
  • Being sold at No Reserve
