March 2023 Classic & Performance Car Auction

Lot 4

1995 Ford Fiesta Quartz
*** NO RESERVE ***

Registration - M110 AKC

Chassis No. - SFABXXBAFBSL97374

M.O.T. - February 2024

Odometer - 38,327

If you invented the ideal history for a used car, it would probably look something like that of this bonny Fiesta – ie two lady owners and just 38,334 warranted miles from new. Its condition inside and out is also hard to fault. It was registered to the first of its custodians in June 1995 and the name on the number plates suggests the supplying dealer was Blakes of Liverpool. ‘M110 AKC then changed hands for the first and, so far, last time in April 1996. Its Teal Blue bodywork is matched to grey cloth interior trim and black carpets. The vendor informs us that the little Ford ‘starts, runs, and drives very reliably’ and currently considers the engine, five-speed manual transmission, bodywork, paintwork and upholstery to all be in ‘excellent’ condition. The car is now offered complete with sunroof and radio/cassette player, plus a selection of old MOTs and a current one valid to February 8 next year.

Now in its seventh generation, Ford’s incredibly successful Fiesta is due to be discontinued in June this year, much to the disappointment of its generations of fans. No less than 22 million have been sold during the model’s astonishing 47-year reign, 4.8 million of which found homes in the UK, where it was the top selling model for 12 consecutive years (2009-2020) and the country’s best-selling car of all time. From frugal family car to winner of international rallies, Ford’s famous baby has ticked countless boxes in its reign and will leave a very large automotive hole when it goes. The Quartz model we’re concerned with here, was a budget specification version of the MKIII Fiesta that was sold alongside the MKIV derivative from 1989 up until 1997. Its 1.1-litre engine had an output of 49bhp, that was sufficient to endow the hatchback with a 0-60 mph time of 17.7 seconds. However, with an average fuel consumption of c.46mpg a full tank could take you some 425 miles – so much for electric cars!

In summary:

• Just two lady owners and 38,334 warranted miles from new

• Very tidy condition throughout

• Being sold at No Reserve
