The fabled X308-generation Jaguar XJ8 was introduced in 1997 as the third and final iteration of the 1986 Jaguar XJ40 architecture. In the XJR, this the 4.0-litre engine gained a supercharger, delivering a thrilling 370bhp for electrifying performance. It also received a brand new interior, similar to that of the new Jaguar XK8 GT car. Contemporary reviewers almost universally agreed that Jaguar had produced a world-class luxury saloon, and it went on to be a well-loved and popular range of cars right up until it was succeeded by the aluminium-bodied X350 Jaguar XJ in 2002.
