The Gold Cup 2025 Classic, Performance & Supercar Auction

Lot 46

2004 Vauxhall VX220 Turbo
Finished in Europa Blue with just three former keepers

Registration – HIG 4588

Chassis No. – W0L0EBR973N007243

M.O.T. – November 2025

Odometer – 70,000

This great-looking 2004 Vauxhall VX220 is the desirable 2.0-litre Turbo model. At the time, its explosive 197bhp power output gave it Ferrari-beating pace, and the combination of 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds and 146mph top speed remains thrilling today. Its sparking Europa Blue paint is complemented by striking 17-inch Turbo-spec alloy wheels (featuring brand new tyres), plus a blue and black leather interior. The interior was fully retrimmed two years ago, including the seats and steering wheel, which are described as being “like new”. It has a desirable speaker upgrade too. Other upgrades include a Larini exhaust, replacement silicone hoses and an upgraded motorsport oil return.

‘HIG4588’ was registered in January 2004 and has had just three former keepers, with the first and second owning it for a 15-year period between 2004-2019. It has been dry-stored by both the current and previous owner, and features a hard-top that was repainted in gloss black two years ago, “so is immaculate”. The vendor has owned it for a year, and ‘HIG4588’ has a good service history with lots of stamps, owner’s manual and other records. The odometer reads 70,000 miles and it is MOT’d until February 2026.

The Vauxhall VX220 (and its sister car, the Opel Speedster) were developed in partnership with Lotus. The platform was the updated Series II Elise for the 2000 model year, with the Vauxhall having a longer wheelbase and lower door sills for ease of use. The original engine was a naturally-aspirated 2.2-litre four-cylinder, with a 2.0-litre turbo following later. All VX220 were built by Lotus Cars in Hethel, Norfolk, with production running until 2005.

In summary:

· Head-turning 2004 Vauxhall VX220 Turbo in Europa Blue

· Dry-stored by both current and previous owner

· Interior was fully retrimmed two years ago
