The Focus ST was considered a worthy addition to the hot hatch hall of fame when it was launched in the mid 2000’s. The key challenge, today, is finding one in broadly original specification, however. ‘SV57 LOD’ fits that desirable bill very well, with just its wheels noted as straying from factory specification. With just four former keepers to date and an indicated mileage of a shade over 78,000 miles covered, ‘SV57 LOD’ represents an increasingly rare find. ‘SV57 LOD’ additionally boasts a full independent service history and is compete with a long MOT valid until March 2026. Described by the vendor as running and driving really well, ‘SV57 LOD’ is offered here with NO RESERVE.
The Ford Focus ST soon became much admired for blending all the standard car’s family saloon practicality with a 150mph technical specification, all for under £20,000 back in 2006. ‘SV57 LOD’ remains a faithful representation of the original concept in an eye catching red livery. The ST’s external cues include the more aggressive front bumper, mesh grill and distinctive twin tail pipes. The cabin, whilst retaining the legendary Focus practicality, got an upgrade courtesy of Recaro produced front seats, a chunky ST steering wheel and the addition of three auxiliary gauges atop the dashboard. The vendor rates the bodywork, paintwork and interior as “good” overall.
With Ford also owning Volvo at the time of the ST’s introduction, the five cylinder, 2.5-litre turbocharged T5 engine was borrowed from the Swedish firm for service in the Focus. Ford made some alterations to the unit resulting in a characterful sounding and gutsy unit delivering 222bhp and 320 NM of torque in original form. A six speed manual gearbox fed power to the front wheels. ‘SV57 LOD’ has reportedly been well maintained throughout its life with all mechanical aspects of the ST being rated as “good.” A highly original example of hot hatch royalty offered with no reserve. An enticing opportunity.
