Offered at No Reserve, this lavish luxury two-door coupe offers range-topping V8-powered motoring with added modern classic kudos. Finished in glittering silver, with an elegant set of 17-inch alloy wheels, this Mercedes-Benz CL500 has all the extras you’d expect of a top-line car. This can most clearly be seen inside, where the list of equipment more than underlines this is the firm’s pillarless coupe equivalent to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The dashboard even includes a TV! There’s row upon row of buttons too, including one to adjust the ABC air suspension.
‘X343DDN’ has individual rear seats almost as indulgent as the electric heated armchairs in the front, with the dark wood veneer stretching into the rear too. The black leather upholstery complements the silver exterior. Other equipment highlights include a large electric sunroof, electric heated seats and full climate control. The history file includes the original owner’s manual and other books, along with a pile of receipts and MOTs that help verify an odometer reading of around 71,500 miles.
With a 300bhp 5.0-litre V8 engine, ‘X343DDN’ is a genuine 155mph car, with 0-60mph in just 6.5 seconds. It was registered in November 2000 and has had a lower-than-average number of keepers. It is a fine example of the luxury CL line, which was introduced in 1992 as a rebrand for the SEC series – both are essentially two-door coupe versions of the range-topping Mercedes-Benz S-Class. This C215 generation was introduced in 1998 and brought a number of advanced features, from the Active Body Control fully active suspension to the Bi-Xenon high-intensity discharge headlights.
