Electric cars may be getting cleverer by the minute, but none yet match the soul of a good V8 internal combustion-engined one, and few of those are able to get the blood pumping quite like this facelift C63 AMG C Class Mercedes, that’s equipped with optional Performance Package Plus - a truly rare combination of luxury and speed. The Benz is finished in white, trimmed in black and white hide, and rides on black multi-spoke alloy wheels shod with recent Michelin Pilot 4S tyres. Behind them lie the red calipers (six-pot on the front) of the car’s powerful Brembo braking system, while also included in the performance pack are a front splitter and front and rear spoilers, all beautifully engineered in lightweight carbon. There have been five enthusiast owners to date, who have kept the car fully maintained courtesy of a mix of Mercedes dealers and marque specialists and accrued a relatively modest total mileage of 50,000. This masterpiece of technology is now available for sale complete with limited slip differential, additional carbon interior trim, sunroof, Harmon Kardon sound system, complete service history and a full 12 months’ worth of MOT.
The C63 AMG was the ultimate performance version of Mercedes’ third generation (W204) of C Class saloons, coupes and estates produced between 2011 and 2015. Its heart was the company’s mighty 6.2-litre normally-aspirated V8 engine (the first to be built from scratch by AMG), which in optimum state of tune produced 622bhp, making it the most powerful non-turbo road engine ever produced. As fitted to C63 AMG Performance Package Plus models such as the sale car, the race-bred unit featured forged crankshaft, con rods and pistons, revved to 7,200rpm and delivered a reliable 480bhp and no less than 600Nm of torque - sufficient output to fire the luxury saloon version from rest to 60mph in a disdainful 4.3 seconds and on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph. With six-pot Brembo brakes and sports suspension to match, the C63 AMG with performance pack was arguably in a class of fits own.
