This striking 1994 Renault Clio Williams Cup is a genuine rarity – an original Mark Fish Motorsport cup car, one of just three produced. Mark Fish Motorsport is a storied racing team made famous by its eponymous owner’s legendary success in Renault racing championships. He first won the Renault 5 TS Championship in 1985 and went on to score multiple Renault 5 GT Turbo championships – and was also among the first to run the new Renault Clio 16v in 1991. A support series to the British Touring Car Championship, the cars became a popular part of the race calendar, with exposure growing as the BTCC boomed in the 1990s. This car was a distinctive presence at the time, thanks to its bespoke pink paintwork – along with the fact Mark Fish was often running it at the front of the pack.
The car, which has not been road-registered, has a high-compression 2.0-litre engine with forged componentry. It boasts individual throttle bodies, plus Kent cams, springs, lifters and pulleys. There is an Omex standalone ECU, gearbox differential and, for the brakes, four-pot calipers. The vendor says it actually won the BARC Tin Tops Championship in 2013, ahead of retiring from racing in 2014. It was held in a private collection until 2024 when the current owner acquired it. With an odometer reading around 14,100 miles, the vendor describes the condition as top-grade ‘excellent’ throughout.
