Registration – MXZ 5526
Chassis No. – WDD2163712A007864
M.O.T. – Expired
Odometer – 80,230 (Mileage Discrepancy)
The CL-Class represented the pinnacle of Mercedes-Benz luxury coupe design, combining advanced engineering, refined V8 performance and exceptional long-distance comfort within a distinctive pillarless grand touring body style. The C216 generation continued this tradition with elegant styling, sophisticated technology and effortless performance, making it one of the most accomplished luxury coupes of its era.
Finished in black coachwork, this CL 500 presents as a discreet yet imposing example of Mercedes-Benz's flagship coupe. The vendor informs us that the car has had four keepers from new and is offered without a current MOT.
The accompanying service pack contains eight recorded service stamps, the most recent completed in March 2023 at 69,942 miles, providing documented evidence of maintenance during its ownership.
Prospective purchasers should note that there is a clear discrepancy within the vehicle's recorded mileage history. The vehicle is understood to have spent part of its life in Ireland, where the odometer was previously recorded in kilometres before later being recorded in miles following its registration in Great Britain. Historic test records show the following recorded odometer readings:
The current odometer displays approximately 80,230 miles, which differs from the latest recorded DVSA MOT mileage of 80,836 miles in February 2026. Whilst the progression of the recorded mileage following the conversion to miles appears broadly consistent, Hampson Auctions is unable to warrant the accuracy of the recorded mileage. Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the mileage history, supporting documentation and overall condition of the vehicle prior to bidding.
Externally, the CL 500 is distinguished by its elegant proportions and signature pillarless side profile, allowing all side windows to be lowered to create an uninterrupted aperture. Large alloy wheels and subtle chrome detailing reinforce the car's executive character while maintaining Mercedes-Benz's restrained design philosophy.
Inside, the cabin offers the luxury expected of a flagship Mercedes-Benz, combining high-quality materials, generous equipment levels and excellent comfort for both driver and passengers. The model was widely praised for its refined cruising ability, advanced technology and impressive long-distance capability.
Power is supplied by Mercedes-Benz's naturally aspirated V8 engine driving the rear wheels through an automatic transmission, delivering smooth, effortless performance befitting the model's grand touring credentials.
Offered without reserve, this CL 500 presents an opportunity to acquire a well-specified Mercedes-Benz flagship coupe with documented service history. It offers potential either as a recommissioning project or as an increasingly desirable modern classic luxury grand tourer.
