September 2022 Classics Auction

Lot 64

1990 Ferrari Mondial T
Recently featured on the cover of Classic & Sports Car Magazine

Registration - G622 XPM

Chassis No. - ZFFKD32C000083066

M.O.T. - 8th September 2023

Odometer - 51,180

This handsome ‘prancing horse’ is presented in the classic combination of Rosso Red bodywork complemented by Crema hide interior trim. It was first registered on January 12, 1990 and purchased by the vendor from marque specialist Foskers in May 2017, since when it has been maintained by Lancaster Ferrari Colchester. He informs us that it has resided beneath a cover inside his garage, always started reliably and remained trouble-free throughout his ownership. He currently classes the V8 engine, five-speed manual transmission and bodywork as ‘excellent’, and the paintwork and upholstery as ‘good’. The car is due to have its engine belts replaced (based on age rather than mileage) and is expected to have a fresh MOT in time for the sale. In its time, ‘G622 XPM’ has been the feature of a cover story in Classic & Sports Car and is now being offered complete with four brand new tyres, an extensive history file containing a full service history up to 2020 (since when it has barely been used due to COVID), a 1996 bill of sale from Maranello Sales Ltd, plus the original owner’s handbook and key fob.

The T was the final iteration of the Mondial and differed markedly from its earlier siblings both inside and out. The designation referred to the re-positioned drivetrain that comprised a longitudinally-mounted engine driving through a transversely positioned transmission. For ease of maintenance the revised set-up was fixed to a removable subframe, while other embodiments of note included power-assisted steering, three-position electronically controlled suspension and ABS. Production ran for just 4.5 years, during which 858 coupe versions were created, just 45 of which featured righthand drive, making ‘G622 XPM’ a rare proposition.

In summary:

  • A well-presented example with full service history
  • Previously the subject of a cover story in Classic & Sports Car
  • Comes complete with a brand new set of tyres
