This 1984 Audi GT, offered with no reserve, is a real rarity. It is a post-facelift version of the B2-generation Coupe, of which only around 20 are left on UK roads. It also has the reassurance of long-term ownership, with the vendor owning it for over 26 years – they acquired it in late October 1997. Prior to them, it has had six previous keepers, far lower than the average for this age of vehicle. The vendor reports no exterior modifications during their time with the car – when they acquired it, the suspension was already tastefully lowered, and it features what appears to be a stainless steel exhaust system. The paintwork is in ‘good’ condition and the bodywork is ‘average’.
‘B530PNF’ has a 2,144cc five-cylinder engine that’s described as being in ‘excellent’ condition. The five-speed transmission is also ‘excellent’. The car is a “great runner” and features a cut-off switch for security. Auxiliary dials on the centre console, below a modern Kenwood stereo with USB input, help monitor the engine. The vendor says they switched the interior to brown leather around nine years ago, and it is in ‘good’ condition. During their time with the car, it has required no major work, other than service and MOTs, and the odometer now reads 113,576 miles.
The Audi Coupe was a two-door version of the Audi 80 saloon, introduced in 1980. Enthusiasts are always quick to point out the bodywork, minus the flared wheelarches, is shared with the famous Audi Quattro turbocharged performance coupe. The first generation, the B2, was sold for eight years, in both rare four-cylinder GL guise and the more popular five-cylinder GT. This model is one of the first facelifted Audi Coupes, with a more modern grille and headlights, wraparound bumper, rear spoiler from the Audi Quattro and a more modern interior.
