The Lotus Europa S2 is an iconic piece of 1960s automotive design and this 1970 model is described as a “really nice example with low mileage and only two owners from new”. The first owner kept it for 17 years and, after acquiring it in 1987, the second owner kept it right up to 2025. The odometer reads around 29,000 miles and MOT records dating back to 2006 help confirm this. ‘PWV104H’ is finished in a period 1970s shade of yellow and it has a similarly authentic black PVC interior.
‘PWV104H’ has a full and advisory-free MOT, despite now being MOT-exempt. Indeed, it has been MOT’d for the past four years – all of them with no advisories. Recent work has included new front brake calipers, new brake cylinders and pipes, upgraded hoses and new Lotus hubcaps. The engine is described as being in ‘excellent’ condition, with ‘good’ bodywork, paintwork and interior. The vendor says this 1970 Lotus Europa S2 is “a very honest car that turns heads”.
The Lotus Europa was a groundbreaking mid-engined sports car designed to take the principals of the firm’s legendary Grand Prix cars from racetrack to road. The design showed plenty of innovative thinking from Lotus founder Colin Chapman, while the engine was deliberately sourced from a mainstream road car to help with affordability – in this case, the Renault 16. An improved Europa S2 arrived in 1968, with a more luxurious interior and modified construction to help with repairability. Performance-wise, this was a 120mph GT with its low weight aiding punchy acceleration.
In summary:
· 1970 Lotus Europa S2
· Just two owners from new and odometer reads a low 29,000 miles
· Recent MOTs are all advisory-free
