This Scaglietti’s swathes of black paintwork serve to highlight the predominantly yellow ‘prancing horse’ logos of its wheel hubs and front wings – the overall effect of which is really quite mesmerising. The Ferrari was first registered in March 2005, since when its four keepers have amassed no more than 39,914 miles between them, the most recent of whom having retained it for the last 12 years. He volunteers that a degree if wear is evident on the lacquer of the boot lid and that the alloy wheels have argued with the occasional kerb, but considers the V12 engine, gearbox and black leather interior to all be in ‘good’ order, and classes the two-door alloy bodywork and paintwork as ‘average’. He is now offering the car complete with full leather encased toolkit, service book (the latest stamp is as recent as July this year and just 234 miles ago) and owner’s manuals, but not the currently displayed registration plate.
The Scaglietti 2+2 Coupe was penned by Frank Stephenson under Ken Okuyama at Pininfarina. It was Ferrari’s second all-aluminium vehicle (the first being the 360 Modena) and comprised a spaceframe manufactured in concert with Alcoa. The front mid-mounted V12 powerplant was shared with the 575 Superamerica and was not 6-litres as the name suggests, but 5.7; though more than big enough for a healthy power output of 533bhp and equally impressive performance figures, including a 0-62mph time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed north of the magic 200mph. There was a choice of two different six-speed transmissions – a conventional manual gearbox and a semi-automatic paddle shift set-up designated the F1A. A total of 3,025 examples were manufactured between 2004 and 2011, just 199 of which featured the manual gearbox.
