1999 Jaguar XK8 4.0 Coupe
Supplied new in 1998 to a British businessman residing in Holland, this righthand drive XK8 coupe was then repatriated and first UK registered in March 1999. It is finished in the striking combination of Metallic Carnival Red and Oatmeal leather trim, and rides on uprated factory-supplied 18-inch alloy wheels. It would appear that the vendor and its modest count of three former custodians have maintained this Jaguar regardless of cost throughout their stewardship, and there are invoices on file for all the works carried out. The paperwork covers attention to the brakes, suspension, coolant system and engine - including the fitment of uprated timing chain tensioners. The XK8’s interior is a sumptuous blend of supple two-tone leather and wood veneers and benefits from the replacement of the original headlining - a common area of issue on this particular model. As recently as last year the car was also treated to a replacement battery and uprated cat-back stainless steel exhaust system (at a cost of some £580.00). Described by the enthusiastic vendor as ‘ready to use’, following a 400-mile trip to London, ‘S203 HGP’ is now offered for sale complete with V5C, comprehensive service history (including stamped service book), owner’s pouch with all instruction booklets, radio code card, three sets of keys/fobs, plus a current MOT certificate valid for 12 months.
The XK8 made its debut at the 1996 Geneva Salon and was immediately available in either coupe or convertible guise. The newcomer also had the distinction of being the first Jaguar ever to be powered by an eight-cylinder engine which, prior to 2003, meant either a normally aspirated (XK8) or supercharged (XKR) 4.0-litre version of the company’s DOHC V8 AJ26 unit.
