This iconic Mitsubishi Evo 7 is a 2001 car that was imported into the UK in 2004. The vendor says it has been their pride and joy, and describes it as being in superb condition inside, outside and underneath. Notably, this special car also comes with a suitably special number plate, ‘E23VVO’. A comprehensive engine rebuild in 2020 will offer reassurance to the new owner. It had new pistons and conrods, a reskimmed lined block, Evo 8 Rossport cams, competition bearings, upgraded lifters, HKS cambelt and balance shaft, HKS vernier pulleys, new coolant hoses and a new water pump. There’s a Mac 3 Port Boost solenoid, a Turbosmart actuator, Walbro pump with hardwire kit… and it’s all been G-R Performance-tuned, where it made an astonishing 396bhp. The vendor adds a diff and transfer box service ensure all that power is delivered to the road in the right way. Both engine and transmission are in ‘excellent’ condition.
Inside, ‘E23VVO’ has standard Evo 7 seats front and rear, as part of an interior that’s described as being in ‘excellent’ condition. Being a sunroof car adds to its rarity. The owner has fitted various Defi gauges – oil pressure, engine temperature, exhaust temperature and boost pressure, but the wiring needs to be checked as some of them aren’t working. The upmarket Alpine stereo with Bluetooth is though, and this is included in the sale. Other notable details include a carbon fibre Evo 8 dash, relocated Evo 8 heater controls, and an enthusiast-pleasing HKS turbo timer. As for the outside, the bodywork and paintwork are both in ‘excellent’ condition, as are the OEM Evo 7 wheels, which are wrapped in Yokohama AD08R tyres. There are four-pot Brembo brakes at the front, two-pot Brembos at the rear, and Ferodo DS2500 pads fitted all round. The odometer reads 50,500 miles, and it is MOT’d until September 2025. Naturally, this well-loved car has a full service history and heaps of receipts – and the vendor adds they “have a big box of extra bits and bobs I’ve collected over the years to go with the car”. Evo enthusiasts, form an orderly queue!
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, known by enthusiasts as the Evo, is an iconic rally-bred high-performance car that ran across numerous series from 1992 to 2016. Originally, it was only intended for the Japanese market, but its growing cult car kudos, and the popularity of grey imports, saw it gain official status in a growing number of markets. The Evo 7 boasted a series of detailed chassis tweaks to make it even more of a driver’s car; these included a clever active centre differential and enhanced limited-slip differential, along with a helical LSD at the front.
