‘ML54 FKH’ is an increasingly rare example of the MKI, Type 8N Audi TT in 1.8 litre turbo, coupe form. Nice examples of the desirable MKI cars are becoming hard to find and this one seems to tick every box. With just two keepers to date, the first keeper retained ‘ML54 FKH’ for well over 18 years which is invariably a good sign. What’s more, ‘ML54 FKH’ has covered just 46,000 miles or so to date – a great provenance by any comparison. ‘ML54 FKH’ comes complete with a full service history until 18 months ago, and other invoices and documentation. ‘ML54 FKH’ holds an advisory free MOT until February 2026 and is offered here with NO RESERVE, hence representing an exciting ownership opportunity.
The MKI Audi TT initially came with two flavours of transversely mounted, inline four cylinder, 20V, turbocharged engines. ‘ML54 FKH’ is fitted with the 180bhp unit with the K03 turbocharger and single intercooler. This is paired with the five speed manual, 02J transmission transferring power to the front wheels. This mechanical specification was good for a 140mph plus top speed and a sub 8 second 0-60mph time. Pretty competitive for its period. ‘ML54 FKH’ had a new clutch fitted around 2 years ago with only a reported 150 miles covered since. This is supported by an accompanying invoice. The engine, transmission and electrics of this TT are all rated as “good.”
‘ML54 FKH’ presents in black and its Freeman Thomas design was groundbreaking at its introduction in 1998 and the MKI cars, like ‘ML54 FKH’, really showcase the purity and ambition of the design. As a result, the MKI cars are becoming increasingly sought after for exactly this reason. The sports orientated cabin was equally design led and exhibits all the quality touches that Audi have become so associated with. ‘ML54 FKH’s’ cabin is finished in half black leather and retains all its surprise and delight touches of the original concept. ‘ML54 FKH’s’ paintwork and bodywork are rated as “average” and the interior as “good.”
