The Bolesworth Castle March 2024 Classic & Performance Car Auction

Lot 75

2002 Bentley Arnage
***NO RESERVE***

Registration – LF52 UVE

Chassis No. – SCBLF34F62CH08501

M.O.T. – August 2024

Odometer – 84,450

Cars don’t come much rarer than a Bentley, and Arnages are rarer still… but this one could be unique. ‘LF52 UVE’ is presented in cream over red bodywork, with matching interior, and black split-rim alloys with white detailing, so the chances of finding another like it are certainly slight. Under that long bonnet sits Bentley’s 6.75-litre V8, sourced from BMW at the time, and connected to a silky smooth five-speed automatic transmission. When new, the powertrain produced around 350bhp, and the capacity for long-distance motoring is huge. Step inside the cabin and the interior is equally distinctive, with the expected Bentley sense of luxury enhanced by the quilted beige leather upholstery with red leather accents and the Alpine entertainment system. The vendor describes the engine and transmission as being in ‘excellent' condition, the electrics as ‘good’, and the body, paintwork, and interior as ‘average’. A little cosmetic attention, and this unusual example of Bentley’s luxury saloon could comfortably be restored to its former glory. ‘LF52 UVE’ shows an indicated 84,000 miles on the clock and is offered at No Reserve. Surely a tempting prospect for a Bentley enthusiast?

The Bentley Arnage was introduced in 1998, named after a corner at the famous Le Mans circuit, and quickly became Bentley’s best-selling model at the time. A large luxury saloon, initially it was powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre V8, and in 1999 this version became the Arnage Green Label, as a second, Red Label Arnage, was introduced to the range, Bentley’s 6.75-litre V8. Additional models were brought to the market, such as the Arnage T and Arnage R, before ending production in 2008 with the Arnage Final Series – a model that commemorated 10 years of the Arnage, 50 years of the famous Bentley V8, and 90 years of Bentley Motors.

· Distinctive and well-appointed example of Bentley’s Arnage

· Cream over red bodywork is a rarely seen specification

· Bentley’s 6.75-litre V8 and automatic gearbox in ‘excellent’ condition
