As an early example of the first Gaydon built Aston Martins, ‘OU06 LKC’ is a premiere league head turner by any comparison. With an incredibly lightly used history and just three lucky keepers to date, ‘OU06 LKC’ has covered a mere 23,700 miles. The current keeper acquired ‘OU06 LKC’ in January 2011 at around 20,000 miles, helping to explain how ‘almost new’ this DB9 still appears. Despite that miniscule mileage ‘OU06 LKC’ has been regularly serviced and annually MOTd. The luxuriously bound service booklet contains 7 main dealer stamps, and a second booklet contains a further two with the last service at 22,110 miles – around 1,500 miles ago. This superb, drop-top supercar is offered with numerous supporting invoices and documents and a current MOT valid until May 2025.
The DB9 Volante launched shortly after the coupe but lacked none of the drama and visual sense of occasion of its hard topped sibling. The thrilling Ian Callum design looks especially strong in the bright Toro Red livery of ‘OU06 LKC.’ The addition of the black fabric hood and 19-inch, 15-spoke alloy wheels rounds the sophisticated yet brooding look off perfectly. The latter wear a mixed set of Bridgestone Potenzas at the rear and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S items at the front. The open architecture of the wheels gives a clear view of the Aston Martin inscribed callipers. The cabin is a symphony of Sandstrom hued leather with ample Chancellor Red accents and luxurious looking mahogany wood veneer. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given ‘OU06 LKC’s’ history, the condition both inside and outside appears hard to fault.
The heart of ‘OU06 LKC’ lurks beneath that long, elegant bonnet, however. Although this model directly followed the DB7, the DB8 nomenclature was discounted as Aston Martin didn’t want anyone to mistakenly think this was a “mere” V8. ‘OU06 LKC’ features the mighty 5.9-litre V12 engine first debuted in the DB7 Vantage. Mated to a ZF, six-speed “Touchtronic” gearbox with alloy gear change paddles this combination can theoretically propel ‘OU06 LKC’ to a limited 165mph passing 60mph on the way in under 5 seconds. Dropping the hood allows one to better appreciate the sonorous V12 soundtrack that accompanies this prodigious performance.
In summary:
· A lightly used example with just three owners to date and 23,700 miles covered
· An Aston Martin appropriate livery of bright Toro Red over Sandstorm leather
· Compete with a full nine stamped services despite the miniscule mileage
