‘L421 ODU’ is an example of the post 1991 facelifted XJS. New owners Ford granted the sporting flagship a stay of execution and made some significant revisions to last it through until 1996. ‘L421 ODU’ is notable for its complete originality and popular livery of Jaguar Racing Green over Magnolia leather. Currently in the ownership of its sixth keeper and having covered 87,317 miles to date, ‘L421 ODU’ is being offered with NO RESERVE. Complete with plenty of accompanying paperwork and service history ‘L421 ODU’ is ready to use and enjoy immediately.
On acquiring Jaguar one of Ford’s first actions was to bring the axe down on the meandering XJS replacement program. Whilst they started from scratch they endowed the XJS with some new and welcome attributes. Seen here today in ‘L421 ODU’ these included a new 4-litre, six cylinder engine, bigger and black tinted rear lights and some tinkering with the rear window surrounds to make them look bigger and the controversial “flying buttresses” smaller. New instruments are the main facelifted items to be found inside ‘L421 ODU.’ This car looks the part in its Jaguar Racing Green livery, and double grey coachline. The familiar, five spoke 16-inch alloy wheels look in good order and the 55-profile Falken tyres are a matching set dating from 2017. The XJS cabin was always a nice place to spend time in and ‘L421 ODU’ is no exception. The Magnolia hued leather graces most surfaces and the deeply bolstered, horizontally box pleated seats exhibit just the right amount of patina. The biscuit coloured carpets dress the floor and the bottom sections of the doors. The updated gauges from the XJ saloon are clear and legible.
In this instance the AJ6 4-litre straight six engine is mated to the four speed ZF automatic transmission. This configuration was originally rated at 245bhp and 289 Ib-ft or torque rendering ‘L421 ODU’ as an accomplished and refined long distance tourer with an impressive turn of speed when called upon. All in all, ‘L421 ODU’ is desirable example of a Jaguar coupe who’s stock is seemingly on the rise.
In summary:
· Highly original and presentable condition
· Post facelift model in a desirable and popular livery
· Complete with plenty of paperwork and a current MOT
