The Gold Cup 2025 Classic, Performance & Supercar Auction

Lot 82

1963 Bond Equipe
***NO RESERVE*** Just five previous keepers and ready for classic rallying

Registration – 653 UHY

Chassis No. – BFC.17957HE

M.O.T. – Exempt

Odometer – 45,466

Offered at No Reserve, this elegant 1963 Bond Equipe is described by the vendor as a “nice car” that they’ve owned for around four years. They report it drives well, and it has enjoyed an engine rebuild by the previous owner. It’s also had a new electric starter motor and fuel pump. The odometer reads around 45,500 miles.

First registered in November 1963, this is one of the earliest Bond Equipes. ‘653UHY’ has, remarkably, had just five previous keepers, well below the average for a 61-year-old car. The vendor says has a 1,250cc four-cylinder engine and a four-speed manual gearbox. They add that it is “ready to go classic rallying,” and comes equipped with a trip meter and clock for the passenger to operate. The sporty bucket seats are all ready for rallying too. A clearly enthusiast-owned model, this pretty Bond Equipe presents an exciting opportunity to acquire a rare model all set for fun fast road use.

The Bond Equipe was the Preston firm’s first four-wheel car. It was launched in 1963, derived from a Triumph Herald chassis. The fastback body was made from fibreglass. It used engines from the sporty Triumph Spitfire, and a convertible version later followed. Production continued until 1970, after Reliant acquired Bond and closed the factory.

In summary:

· No Reserve 1963 Bond Equipe fastback

· Engine rebuild by previous owner

· Equipped with rally-ready trip meter and clock
