Lot 87

2003 Land Rover Defender 90 TD5
Only 36,000 miles from new

Registration – YY53 GGP

Chassis No. – SALLDVA573A662764

M.O.T. – October 2026

Odometer – 36,455

Finished in bright red with a contrasting white hard-top and tan canvas rear canopy, this remarkably original Td5 soft-top presents in superb overall order, clearly cherished and benefitting from very light use across its life. The vendor informs us that the Defender has covered only around 36,000 miles from new, supported by its notably clean interior, strong mechanical presentation and excellent structural condition. The paintwork remains sharp, the underside impressively solid, and the canvas rear cover appears virtually unworn.

Inside, the cabin displays very minimal wear, retaining its original grey seats, factory radio and tidy trim throughout. Mechanically, the Td5 engine starts eagerly and runs smoothly, with the engine bay presenting cleanly and to factory-correct specification. The chassis, bulkhead and running gear all appear in excellent health, and the tow set-up to the rear suggests careful, light-duty use rather than heavy working life.

A desirable late-model Td5 in soft-top configuration, this example represents an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire a Defender that remains strikingly close to its factory form, yet offers enormous practicality and appeal for both collectors and enthusiasts.

Introduced in 1998, the five-cylinder Td5 engine brought modern electronic management and impressive torque to the Defender range, quickly becoming a favourite among enthusiasts for its blend of refinement and rugged simplicity. Soft-top variants—especially those that have escaped hard use—are now highly sought after for their classic looks and versatility, as values continue to climb for well-preserved examples.

• Only c.36,000 miles from new
• Exceptionally well-preserved soft-top Td5
• Appealing low-ownership, lightly-used example
