A desirable Mk2 ‘big bumper’ Golf GTI, this genuine garage find has been stored for the last 10 years and kept in VW enthusiast ownership for 18 years. The vendor informs us it is a rare three-door model finished in classic black with sought-after Rainbow seats and fitted with period-correct Ronal alloy wheels in good condition. The engine sounds sweet and the car starts and runs, recently fitted with a new battery, although it will require recommissioning before returning to the road. It retains its original handbook and book pack, along with a folder of historic paperwork and some spares stored in the boot.
Launched in 1983, the Mk2 Golf GTI built on the success of its predecessor by offering improved refinement, safety, and performance while maintaining the charismatic driving experience that made the original GTI an icon. The ‘big bumper’ version, introduced in 1986, is now particularly sought after due to its distinctive styling and increased compliance with safety regulations.
