This hugely desirable and highly collectable 1995 Subaru Impreza is a Series McRae special edition, number 189 of just 200 individually-numbered cars produced. Based on the Turbo 2000, it had unique Series McRae paint, special gold alloy wheels and other exterior and interior touches, including bespoke Recaro seats with ‘Series McRae’ stitching. The vendor says the car has been in dry storage for years to preserve its originality – and it also comes with a full service history including most of the receipts over a near-30-year period.
‘P790SFE’ enjoys replaced and repaired rear wheelarches and both sills, while the hubs, brakes front wishbones, both subframes, fuel tank and brake pipes have all received attention. The vendor says it has a larger four-pot brake conversion, plus wheel spacers to ensure the standard wheels still fit. The engine, described as in ‘good’ condition, has had a cambelt kit, new cambelt pulleys and a full oil change, while this Series McRae also features a desirable stainless steel exhaust. The vendor says the car, which has an odometer reading 102,000 miles, also has a full clen MOT.
The Subaru Impreza 2000 Turbo was made famous by Colin McRae’s WRC exploits behind the wheel of a Prodrive-prepared rally car. The exuberant Scot helped put the car on the map – and the fact it delivered exceptional performance, engaging handling and superb reliability for a strikingly affordable price meant a waiting list soon built. Even today, it will feel fast and thrilling, with 0-60mph in a scant 6.4 seconds that’s aided by grippy all-wheel drive, and this car has the added bonus of being an all-original UK car, rather than a modified import.
· Very rare Subaru Impreza Series McRae
· Number 189 of just 200 built
