The Ford Capri is a blue oval icon of the 1970s and 1980s, and there are few more desirable iterations than the 2.8 Injection. This 1985 example is finished in striking silver metallic, with the iconic ‘Injection’ coachline in red. It has the later RS-style 15-inch 7-spoke alloy wheels, helping give it a sporting stance. The vendor describes the car as in ‘good’ condition throughout, adding that it has been stored for the past two years. The odometer reading of 50,000 is believed to be genuine. Although it doesn’t have a current MOT, ‘C881GGG’ has plenty of old MOTs and receipts for work carried out. These also help support the mileage.
‘C881GGG’ was registered in September 1985, and records show it has had just seven previous keepers. This is well below the average for this age of car. Inside, the grey interior is equipped with part-velour Recaro sports seats, a three-spoke leather steering wheel and the high-grade Capri ‘six-pack’ instrument binnacle. The 2.8-litre V6 fuel-injected engine is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. The rear tailgate reveals a clean boot compartment finished in deep-pile trim, and it even has a standard rear screen wiper.
The Ford Capri was ‘the car you always promised yourself’. Introduced in 1969, it was a swoopy two-door coupe derived from the Ford Cortina that was effectively Europe’s version of the top-selling US Ford Mustang. The flashy styling was combined with four-cylinder and V6 engines, making it attainable to potential buyers. An instant success, the Ford Capri II arrived in 1974, with the updated Capri III arriving in 1978. The sporty Capri 2.8 Injection was developed from this version, with a thrilling 160hp from the fuel injected V6. The chassis was honed, and it was fitted with a limited-slip differential. Today, the Ford Capri 2.8 Injection remains one of the most desirable versions.
