M.O.T. - December 2021
Odometer – 77,696
The appetite for TVR’s unique brand of performance sports car remains undimmed, despite there being no new model since 2006. This exceedingly smart right-hand drive home market 350i hails from 1985, and is finished in an attractive shade of metallic silver blue that’s complemented by grey hide interior trim. The vendor informs us that the car’s bodywork and blue hood have been retained in as new a state as possible and that the interior has been completely reconditioned, at which time the headrests were adorned with the familiar TVR logo. The multi-spoke alloy wheels have also been refurbished and shod with a brand new set of tyres. The car’s 3.5-litre Rover V8 engine drives through a five-speed manual gearbox and the odometer has so far clocked a total of 77,696 miles from new. Summarising his car, the vendor says ‘it’s in very good condition and drives beautifully, while the engine purrs like a kitten’. The 350i has had a total of seven keepers to date, the previous one having retained it for 11 years. It is now being sold complete with extensive service history and all past paperwork, tax discs and MOTs, plus a current certificate valid until December 1. An eminently affordable opportunity for anybody seeking a classic in which to enjoy the impending summer sun.
What was briefly called the Tamsin 350i broke cover in 1983 and was achieved by shoe-horning Rover’s venerable 3.5-litre V8 engine into the space previously occupied by Ford’s 2.8 litre one. Its 190bhp output was sufficient to propel the newcomer to 60mph in around 6.3 seconds and on to a top speed of over 130mph.
