Fast Fords are always collectable, particularly real rarities such as this sleek 2004 Ford Mondeo ST220. Acclaimed when new, this car has a full service history that consists of 11 stamps covering both main dealers and expert specialists. The 220hp 3.0-litre V6 engine is described as being in ‘excellent’ condition as a result – indeed, it has just had a fresh oil and filter change. The only issue, reports the vendor, is a trace of clutch slip in fifth and sixth gear.

‘DK54XMZ’ features a few choice modifications from the previous owner, with the suspension lowered with coilovers and spacers to give it a highly desirable stance on the road. It also perfectly complements the standard alloy wheels and discreet Mondeo ST220 styling enhancements. Inside, it has half-leather trim and an uprated touchscreen Bluetooth head unit; the vendor says they still have the original Ford stereo too. Backing up its enthusiast-owned history is a full set of manuals and the original owner’s guide, and a big collection of receipts. This silver Fast Ford saloon even has the original spare wheel with a brand new tyre.

The Ford Mondeo was a breakthrough car that replaced the Ford Sierra and delivered a genuinely world-class drive. Famously developed with the help of Sir Jackie Stewart, the original model sold well, and the excitement stepped up a further gear when the facelifted model saw a high-performance ST200 version introduced. The fast Ford range-topper continued with the second-generation model introduced in 2000; the 3.0-litre V6 delivered a superb engine note and made this a genuine 155mph car.

· Collectable Ford Mondeo ST220

· Evidence of plentiful servicing with an ‘excellent’ 3.0-litre V6

· Subtle mods by previous owner enhance its stance
