The Bolesworth Castle September 2025 Classic, Performance & Supercar Auction

Lot 9

1998 Porsche Boxster
***NO RESERVE*** Early example of the first-generation Boxster with a high factory specification

Registration – S228 FYG

Chassis No. – WP0ZZZ98ZWU600079

M.O.T. – May 2026

Odometer – 116,846

Offered at No Reserve, this 1998 Porsche Boxster ‘986’ is finished in an attractive combination of Arena Red paintwork (a colour only offered for three years) and Savannah Beige leather interior. ‘S228 FYG’ also comes with a desirable body-coloured removable hard top, along with a rear wing and attractive alloy wheels finished in gunmetal grey. It features the classic amber indicators of early Boxster, too. The vendor says it has a high factory specification with features such as heated seats and climate control. It also combines the free-revving 2.5-litre flat-six engine with the highly sought after five-speed manual gearbox – which even has a Porsche Carrera GT-style wooden gearknob.

The odometer reads around 116,000 miles and the vendor considers both the engine and transmission to be in ‘good’ condition, as are the electrics, bodywork and cabin. Reflecting its 27-year-old status as a modern classic, the paintwork is rated ‘average’. Considerable care has clearly been paid to ‘S228 FYG’ during its lifetime, with a service history featuring more than 20 stamps, and a large folder containing invoices of work carried out. This 1998 Porsche Boxster has an MOT valid until May 2026.

After the beautiful concept car wowed the world in 1993, the Porsche Boxster was introduced in 1996, becoming the first mid-engined two-seat Porsche roadster since the classic 914. Codenamed 986, it was closely related to the upcoming new water-cooled Porsche 911 996, and quickly gained kudos as a result. A related coupe version, the Cayman, followed later.

In summary:

· 986 Porsche Boxster offered at No Reserve

· High factory specification includes heated seats and climate control

· Extensive service history with more than 20 stamps
