The Bolesworth Castle March 2024 Classic & Performance Car Auction

Lot 9

2002 Toyota Crown
***NO RESERVE***

Registration – LP02 DWZ

Chassis No. – JKS1750003293

M.O.T. – Exempt

Odometer – 36,000 Kms

This example of Toyota’s flagship Crown, in a gleaming dark blue shade with contrasting light grey interior, was imported here in 2018. The tailgate proudly proclaims it to be a Royal Saloon, and therefore achieves its serene progress thanks to a 3.0-litre straight-six engine with a belted alternator starter mild-hybrid system, which offers a simple yet effective means of providing start/stop, power assist, and mild levels of regenerative braking. During its current ownership, the car has benefited from a new alternator, a new inverter, and both 36-volt and 12-volt batteries. With an indicated 36,000km, this 2002 example of an original, unmodified car is supplied with its handbooks, a full history, and its import sheet. No MOT advisories have been noted. A rare and unusual stately conveyance.

The Toyota Crown was already in its eleventh generation by the time the Japanese firm launched the 170 series in 1999, having earned its title of a living legend by virtue of being the longest-running model in Toyota’s passenger car history. It was only ever made in right-hand-drive form, and while that restricted export opportunities to countries such as Singapore, it never officially arrived on UK shores.

In summary

· Imported in 2018 and showing just over 36,000km

· Recent new alternator, inverter, 36V and 12V batteries

· Occasional running issues when warm
