Here we have a notably smart example of the perennially underrated Honda S2000 model. Its lustrous Nürburgring Blue paintwork is matched to sumptuous blue leather interior trim and it rides on apparently unmarked 10-spoke alloy wheels. It has had just four keepers to date, the most recent of whom was a mature lady who retained it from May 2016. A completely original and unmolested specimen it is equipped with the GT pack and equipped with blue hood, colour-keyed hard top and related storage stand and cover. The vendor presently regards the punchy four-cylinder powerplant, six-speed manual gearbox, convertible bodywork, paintwork and upholstery to all be in ‘excellent’ condition. He is now selling the Honda complete with full service history comprising stamps from a mix of marque dealers and independent specialists, a pair of keys, handbook, history file containing a selection of invoices and old MOTs, plus a current one that’s valid for the coming 12 months. The odometer currently reads a total of 71, 672 miles.
Honda’s front-mid-engined two-seater was in production from 1999 to 2009, during which a total of 110,673 examples were made. There were two basic iterations, the second of which, AP2, was introduced in 2004 and is the version concerning us here. Its DOHC VTEC engine had increased in capacity from the original 1997 to 2157cc, the output of which was 237bhp. Drive was via as six-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels. This resulted in a lively level of performance, with 60mph attainable from rest in under six seconds and a terminal speed of 160mph. The model was offered in both roadster and GT guise – the latter having a removable hardtop and ambient temperature gauge.
