Stylishly presented in Zambezi Silver with black accents, this example of Land Rover’s iconic Defender is the three-door 90 wheelbase model, and is offered at no reserve. Powered by Land Rover’s robust five-cylinder 2.5-litre TD5 diesel unit, power goes through a five-speed manual gearbox, to all four wheels of course. Distinct and well specified, ‘YE54 ZLN’ features a number of black design elements to distinguish it from the crowd. A gloss black grille and headlight surround complements the roof and five-spoke alloy wheels, while practical features include the kick-plates on the bonnet and front wings, side tread bars, a tow-bar, low-range transmission, and snorkel. Inside, there is seating for six, with two up front and four on side-mounted rear seats, and there’s a wire mesh bulkhead fitted in this example of the Defender 90. Although famously utilitarian in design, this Defender comes with electric front windows and heated front seats.
Despite having been on the road for more than 20 years, the vendor is just the third keeper in its lifetime, and ‘YE54 ZLN’ has been in their care for more than 15 years. Displaying an indicated 116,831 miles on the odometer, it’s covered relatively low mileage over the years, and comes with a full service history, from a mixture of dealership and specialist garages. Offered with two keys, ‘YE54 ZLN’ is considered in ‘good’ condition throughout – covering engine, transmission, electrics, paint, bodywork, and interior – and is offered for sale at no reserve with two keys and owner’s manuals.
· Fine example of Land Rover’s six-seater County Defender
· Well maintained and cared for across just three previous owners
· Striking colour scheme and specification in sought-after model
The Land Rover Defender was introduced in 1983, as a more modern development of the original Series Land Rover introduced in 1948. Visually, it retained the classic looks, but featured notable upgrades such as coil springs front and rear, a full-length bonnet, integrated headlights, single-piece windscreen and wider tracks with extended wheelarches. A true design icon, the Defender was continually developed right up until production ended in 2016 – and the name today survives in an all-new and brilliantly-conceived version that pays tribute to the original in a thoroughly modern way.
